“We are all a little weird and life is a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.”
Dr. Seuss
This has to be by far one of my favourite Dr. Seuss quotes speaking as it does directly to the heart, as it were, of the human condition. Call it mutually compatible weirdness, temporary insanity, the biochemical equivalent of eating large quantities of chocolate, oxytocin assisted pair bonding or whatever else you need to love is the thing we all search for and when we find love it is the most comfortable and natural place for us to remain.
Some of us, however, for reasons best known to ourselves, insist on screwing it up once we have found it. The secret, or at least part of the secret, is learning to be in love long after the exhilarating feelings of falling in love have subsided.

Love is never lost.
If not reciprocated,

Completely agree with what this amazing man has to say. I also believe you have a point there with the staying in love part. I have wondered why myself why people can’t stay in a relationship (seeing as the average length of a marriage is ’bout 5 years). The only conclusion I could come to, is what you said, as well as being able to overlook what one may look like after time has taken its due process. Looks take their part in a healthy relationship, whether we care to admit it or not. If someone looks completely different from when it started, we can’t recognize them as what they once were and drift away from them little by little.
